Fighting the Unwanted Cravings

Fighting the Unwanted Cravings

Unhealthy Ingredients Can Be Swapped

Pizzas, pastas, desserts, oh my! When it comes to food I am the ultimate foodie! I get it from my mom.  I will try anything and go to new exotic restaurants to try the new hot dish doesn’t matter if is made in an oven or a a cooker from an  instant pot ip duo60 review online.  Recently, I was fortunate enough to go to Italy where I couldn’t turn down pastas, pizzas, and gelato.  As much as I love all of these foods, I still want to be healthy and maintain a balanced diet.  At home it is much easier, but there are always those days were those craving creep up and don’t stop haunting me until they are satisfied.  This year, living on my own at college, I learned the best way to conquer these cravings. The answer is substitutions.  Pizza dough made of cauliflower, burgers made with ground chicken or turkey, quinoa/brown rice noodles, and Alfredo sauce made with cauliflower are just a few of the substitutions I have made to stray away from the unhealthy original.  These substitutions did not pop up in my head over night.  I had a little help from Tasty and Popsugar on Facebook and the hundreds of food instagrams I follow.  Most people think making these substitutions make food taste gross or unappealing.  I think that those people are just using the wrong recipe.  It took me awhile to find a good alternative to pasta.  I tried chickpea pasta and tried to convince myself that the funky taste was worth it, but that ended quickly.  It wasn’t until recently were I learned about the Trader Joes brown rice and quinoa noodles, which tastes exactly like regular noodles but with extra fiber and less calories.  Attached are some fun recipes I have used in the past to satisfy my carbalicious cravings. If anyone has any fun alternatives to dessert let me know because I have yet to find one! Happy healthy cooking!
